As universities prepare for students and staff to return to campus, Syracuse University is looking for ways to improve and implement contact tracing. One idea is to utilize student ID cards which will help ensure students that live both on and off campus are getting tested in compliance with the university’s testing requirements. Syracuse is requiring students who return to campus in the fall, to participate in the university testing program. Thus, if the testing results are tied to their student ID’s, students would not be allowed access to buildings on campus if they have a positive test result or have not completed a required COVID-19 test.
