New EPIC Track® Integrated Print Kiosk Completely Automates Two Student Identification & Accountability Processes in K-12 Schools for Greater Efficiency and Accountability

While EPIC Track software has supported many K-12 school districts’ event tracking of student activity, schools are now able to utilize EPIC Track® Print Kiosks to manage tardy tracking or temporary student ID issuance eliminating outdated manual processes. EPIC Track Print Kiosks can be configured with one of two software applications; Tardy Pass App used to automate the process of tardy check-in and issue printed tardy passes to students as they arrive late to school or Temporary ID App used to issue a temporary ID to students who have forgotten their ID card that day. In each instance, the printed pass or ID produced at the kiosk displays all of the necessary identity information and school information required for validation while the unit collects all transaction data for greater accountability.

The EPIC Track® Print Kiosk solution supports two new applications designed specifically for K-12 schools – Tardy Pass Issuance & Temporary ID Issuance. EPIC Track®, known for its ability to check people in and out of any event from PC workstations, mobile devices such as tablets, smartphones and handheld devices, and stationary mounted kiosk stations, now has the ability to perform student tardy attendance check-in with the ability to print a tardy pass providing physical validation of each transaction. The EPIC Track® Print Kiosk can also be configured to support temporary ID issuance to students who arrive at school without their ID, allowing them to have their ID scanned for classroom attendance, lunch purchases, bus tracking, etc. using their temporary ID.

 

The EPIC Track® Print Kiosk is comprised of an Android touchscreen tablet integrated with a thermal label or paper printer, ID card scanner and configured with either the EPIC Track® Tardy App or Temporary ID Issuance App. The solution is designed to automate each process and manage completely from start to finish from the kiosk. Using the EPIC Track® Print Kiosk for Tardy Pass Issuance, students or staff can scan the student’s ID card barcode at the kiosk, which instantly pulls the student data from the EPIC Track® cloud’s connection in real-time, instantly records the tardy check-in in the EPIC Track® software and automatically prints a paper tardy pass, with the schools logo, tardy pass text label, student’s photo, name, student ID #, timestamp of tardy check-in, QR and identifies which homeroom the student belongs. Students then carry that paper tardy pass with them to class to present to their teacher when they arrive or to any staff they pass while enroute to class.

 

If using the EPIC Track® Print Kiosk for Temporary ID Issuance, when a student notifies staff they have forgotten to bring their student ID to school, the administrator may use the kiosk station to search the student’s name, verify their identity visually using the photo in the record on screen, click a button to confirm and the system will automatically print a temporary black and white adhesive student ID label including photo, name, student ID #, barcode, school logo, and Temporary ID label.

Integration of the EPIC Track® cloud software with this new kiosk station also includes the typical EPIC Track® PC access to event data management using the EPIC Track® dashboard, such as the ability to connect to pre-existing OCDB databases, check status of events in real time, or view a history of event activity data (in this case tardy check-in activity or temporary ID issuance activity) securely from the EPIC Track® reporting tool from any PC with a secure login of authorized administrators.
